Hello everyone! First of all I would like to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR! (although its the 5th already.) Anyways, I know this blog has been inactive temporarily but don't worry, I do still have some reviews to make. As I've promised in my last entry, I'll write a review on the mega blockbluster hit that is still considered full house in most of the cinemas around, AVATAR.
I've watched the movie a day after it had been released which was on 17 Dec. Honestly, I didn't really expect the movie to be a near 3-hour long. But it was worth it. Sorry Edward and Bella, no matter how much I love you guys, Avatar won. Not only the storyline was good, the graphics was awesome! I mean, its from the director James Cameron who directed the classic love story on the luxury ship that was hit by an iceberg and sunk which made the "I jump, you jump" phrase not so romantic now - Titanic. Obviously with a whopping near $500 million budget, you would expect a real good movie! If not, you could seriously use that money to help the poor in Africa or build another building taller than the Burj Dubai!! Anyways, if you have not watch Avatar, then I suggest you better do because its still going to be a hot-selling movie for the next few weekends.
Avatar is about this guy, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) who's lost his twin brother in the Marine is chosen to complete his late brother's mission in Pandora. Wheelchair-bound, he was reassured by his General that he'll get his leg back by surviving in his brother's genetically engineered Avatar which matched his DNA. His mission is to obtain a rare mineral which is essential to solve the Earth's energy crisis.
Reborn in his Avatar body, Jake can finally walk. Entering into the new world, he soon found himself in danger of the unknown predators and was saved by a beautiful Na'vi female, Neytiri. She then brings Jake to her village and Jake was then been accpeted and taught the Na'vi way after Neytiri believed that his presence is something that their ancestors are hinting. Slowly, Jake began to fall for his teacher and then he has to choose to fight for the Na'vi or against them to obtain the precious mineral that Earth needed.
In this movie, I love their special effects, which comes to live if you were to watch it in 3-D. The storyline was good because there's a hidden meaning to it. It shows how much Mother Earth has given us but we destroy all the greenery to make way for the urban developments and greed. It makes me feel more appreciative of what we have now rather than taking things for granted. Although I had to sit in the third row for a near 3 hours, I find that its worth every minute and every cents that I've spent. Their sound effects and their music was very appropiate and strong, it makes you feel like you're living in Pandora. There's also a few sad parts in the story which is also good. There's a lot of action of course, which I love! (: This is the best movie of 2009 and its a must watch for everyone.

I give this movie a 5/5! (: |
